History and visit the Hotel Biron in Paris
The Hôtel Biron is a mansion built by the architect Jean Aubert 1728.Il is located on rue de Varenne in the 7th arrondissement of the French capital. The hotel is built in a park measuring three hectares acquired by the Marshal Biron in 1753. Currently, it is the property of the state and hosts since 1919, the Rodin Museum. The former hotel and its garden are classified as a historic monument since 1926. It is served by several subway stations, the Varenne metro and metro St. Francis Xavier.
Hotel Biron is in the vicinity of the Hotel des Invalides, which belonged to Abraham financial Peyrenc Moras and built by the same architect. Upon the death of Abraham Peyrenc in 1732, the hotel is leased to the Duchess Anne Louise Bénédicte de Bourbon. Marshal Biron bought the property in 1753 the financial and renaming its name. The park area has been completely designed by Dominique Madeleine Mouldy. The Duke of Lauzun inherited property in 1753. After running it in 1793, the hotel is leased to contractors. Currently, the museum presents and preserves works of Auguste Rodin, Camille Claudel and Rodin collections. The building adopts a rococo style of Parisian architecture. Since its classification as an historical monument renovation and rehabilitation were brought to the museum. And the building’s original woodwork as decorations, paintings and metalwork were sold to finance the work. It has a large French garden still retains its original character. The garden was converted into a vegetable garden at the end of the 19th century. Front of the building is a basin with rounded shape and the middle is decorated by carving Ugolino. It covers an area of three hectares and is considered the most private of the Paris city green space. It is decorated with sculptures by Rodin, the thinker, and a cafeteria.
