Positioned within the Oise department in the scenic Picardy region, the town of Allone is known for its historical significance within France. It was tragically marked by the disastrous accident of the British airship R101 on October 5, 1930. The airship crashed on a hill within the town’s boundaries, leading to the loss of 48 lives out of the 54 onboard, including a British cabinet minister.
