History of the Town of Arcis-sur-Aube
Situated in the department of Aube and the Champagne-Ardenne region, Arcis-sur-Aube is a historic French municipality. In the Carolingian era, it was recognized as a pagus prefecture and a notable lordship. Throughout the years, particularly in 1625, 1719, and 1727, Arcis-sur-Aube endured several devastating fires. In 1940, the town center of Arcis-sur-Aube was largely destroyed following a bombing, marking a significant event in its long history.
