History of Le Bourget
Traces of a busy road dating from the Gallo-Roman period have been found in the place where the town of Le Bourget is today. In the Middle Ages, this small agricultural village was linked to Paris by the Route des Flandres, an ancient Roman road. At the same time, Louis VI ceded the territory to the Abbey of Montmartre. In the 16th century, the nuns of Montmartre sold the seigneury of Bourget to the lord of Ménil. Thus, the city was always grouped with Blanc-Mesnil.
The XIXth century is marked by the industrialization of the town which developed more and more thanks to its service by the route of Flanders, the railway of the company of the north or the line of Great Belt as well as at the first airport civil of Paris in 1919. During the two world wars, Le Bourget was an air reserve and an airfield. With the construction of Roissy-en-France airport, Le Bourget airport was abandoned. It was transformed into the Air and Space Museum in 1973. To tour the city, we offer you a high quality professional transfer service.
