Castle Nandy Description
Castle Nandy serves as a venue for both family and professional events. Located 40 km from Paris, it is a cherished destination for hosting events like professional seminars and television productions. However, the castle is not a public tourist site and can only be visited by its clients.
Castle Nandy Overview
Castle Nandy is officially recognized as one of the most prominent festive venues in France. Situated in Seine-et-Marne in the commune of Nandy, 40km from the French capital, the castle combines medieval fortress elements with a classic aesthetic, sans imposing towers or royal drawbridges. It is surrounded by a natural park, which inspires its guests with a desire to live, to breathe fresh air, and to return. Unlike many castles in Seine-et-Marne, the Lordship of Nandy has been renovated by its current owners to blend a feudal ambiance with a modern look. Although accessible, the castle is not open for public tours, but private clients can explore every corner of the castle and learn about its history.
Castle Nandy History
In the Carolingian era, a wooden castle was erected on the site of Castle Nandy. During the Capetian era, it was replaced with a stone castle. Between the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, a new castle was constructed by the Hospital family. For two centuries, the castle was occupied by this family before hosting several other owners, including the Pommeuses, the Vieuville, and the Abbey of Saint-Denis-en-France, among others. Starting from 1660, the last owners, descendants of the first, began constructing the current structure. Following damages from the Wars of Religion, the family of François-Marie, Duke of Vitry, rebuilt the castle with classical inspirations. The southern façade was notably designed using a combination of bricks and stones in a classical style. Finally, in the nineteenth century, the manor was renovated by the Marquis de Perthuis, who made significant but respectful changes, reinstating details that had been lost.
