History of the town of Annoix
Annoix, a quaint town in the Cher department of the Centre-Val de Loire region in France, has a rich history dating back to 1123 when it was first known as “Annoya.” Over time, its name evolved to Annoix, derived from “Aulnus,” indicating the alders on the riverbanks. In 1231, responding to a leprosy outbreak, the town established a hospital for lepers. During the revolution, its church was entrusted to M. Lapalme and was only returned to the municipality in 1837, which then made significant improvements to it.
