The street was named after Quentin Bauchart, an alderman of the city of Paris, following a decree of August 5, 1919.
Previously an extension of Rue de Chaillot, Rue Quentin Bauchart was part of the central street of the town of Chaillot before 1919. The area was historically significant, with the Hospice St. Perrine located in the northern part of the street, where now stand Avenue George V and other notable streets. This hospital, established in 1806, was later moved to Avenue de l’Alma. The street also housed the National Centre of Independents and Peasants at number 4 and several mansions, including the Kerjégu hotel and the Hotel de Choiseul-Gouffrier, which have since been destroyed.
